Ethical Practices in orphan care

Ethical Practices 101

When caring for orphaned and vulnerable children and their families, it is imperative that we do so in the most ethical way possible. Unfortunately this is made difficult by complex situations and people who are always looking to take advantage of children and the people trying to help them. The good news is that there are things you can do to help ensure ethical practices are being followed and children are being cared for in the best way possible. This can include learning how to support birth families, questioning your agency, being willing to walk away when there are red flags, and choosing to do what is best for the child instead of ourselves.

Below are stories and resources where you can begin to learn which questions to ask, things to look out for, and how to choose the ethical route in your foster or adoption journey.
